Be sure to wear rubber gloves to protect the clips or electronic contact surfaces.
Once the battery has been removed, insert the new one into its socket. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing upwards and that all clips are secured. Slide the cover down toward the key-ring until it is loose and falls off. Then, remove the cover and reveal the key blade that is hidden within. Inject the blade of a screwdriver or a prybar tool into this slot, and gently pull the back of the fob. After the fob is open, locate the CR2032 3V battery and take it off. Replace the battery and snap to the fob.
Note: Some older Volvo models use an entirely different type of battery that is called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of millimeters thinner than a CR2032 battery, so you will need to be extra careful when placing the battery of your replacement.
